History and Mandate

Festival Players of Prince Edward County offers theatre experiences which are professional, relevant to our community, engaging, entertaining and Canadian-made.

Our Vision is that Prince Edward County will be enriched by the power of live theatre; theatre which is deeply rooted in the fabric of the community and which inspires creativity, gathering, exchange of ideas and pride of place.

Production History

Founded in 2006 by John Burns, and led by Artistic Director Sarah Phillips from 2007-2016, Festival Players has produced and presented work by some of Canada’s finest theatre artists including world premieres of new works by Dave Carley (A Splinter in the Heart), and John Gray (Amelia: The Girl who Wanted to Fly). Productions have taken place in a century-old barn, under a tent in an estate vineyard, in a village church-turned-theatre, and on the beautiful properties of many of the County’s finest agricultural and hospitality businesses. Graham Abbey joined Festival Players in 2017/18 as Artistic Director.
