Brent Carver and Art of Time

marquee-art-of-time

One Night Only – Friday July 6, 2018
Festival Players of Prince Edward County Presents:

Brent Carver and
The Art of Time Ensemble

Presented in Association with The Regent Theatre Presents

Brent Carver’s career has spanned the full range of performance possibilities, from Hamlet at the Stratford Festival to Molina in A Kiss of the Spiderwoman on Broadway. The Tony Award winner’s exceptional range is reflected in this unique program, hand-picked by Brent Carver at the request of Art of Time Ensemble’s Artistic Director Andrew Burashko.

A roster of Canada’s top composers from different musical perspectives were then commissioned to create new arrangements of the classic material, a collection of songs from a wide variety of styles and genres, from Broadway to the cafes of Paris, and from the American Songbook to pop music of the Sixties. The results are rich embroideries upon the original songs.

In this concert, you’ll hear music by Jacques Brel, Leonard Cohen, Kander & Ebb, Lennon & McCartney, Janis Ian, and many more, performed by Carver and an ensemble of world-class classical and jazz instrumentalists.

About the Art of Time Ensemble:

Renowned concert pianist Andrew Burashko formed Art of Time Ensemble in 1997 by inviting a group of like-minded musicians and prominent figures in dance, theatre and other art forms to perform one-off concerts in Toronto. The company has gone on to become a leader in Toronto’s vibrant performing arts scene, through its subscription season at the Harbourfront Centre Theatre, regular appearances at Koerner Hall, album releases, performances with leading Canadian orchestras, and the tours of its unique offerings to dozens of cities throughout Canada and the United States.

Exploring the relationship between classical music in its many forms and other genres such as jazz, pop, electronica, rock, folk, electroacoustic, gospel and others, Art of Time seeks to reveal the qualities that lie at the heart of all great music
