Charity Begins at the Theatre

Festival Players is partnering with a number of local charities this season to give back to the community. Selected charities, whose mission and mandate have some relationship to the productions in the 2009 season, will be receiving discounted tickets and a percentage of the ticket revenues from their special night.

Wednesday August 5th, the first preview of Colours in the Storm, is the ‘Quinte Conservation Night at the Theatre’. Quinte Conservation, one of Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities, has a 60-year heritage in the region. They’ve been working to improve the health of local watersheds, maintain Conservation areas, provide flood forecasting and flood plain management assistance, participate in environmental planning procedures and offer educational programs for our youth.

Colours in the Storm is set in the wilds of Algonquin Park, a provincial park renowned for its vast interior of maple hills, rocky ridges, spruce bogs, and thousands of lakes, ponds and streams. In the play artist Tom Thomson is mesmerized by the park. Its ever-changing moods inspire and torment him. We’re pleased to partner with a local organization who is working to conserve our wild places and preserve them for future generations.

If you’d like to buy tickets for Wednesday August 5th to show your support for Quinte Conservation and the work they’re doing, contact Jennifer May-Anderson by email or at 613.968.3434.
