Join members of the Festival Players acting company for hands-on theatre workshops for teens and adults of all skill levels. Introductory classes in Shakespeare Scene Study with Graham Abbey, Cabaret Performance with Bruce Dow and Clown with Geoffrey Armour will add to your performance toolkit.
Prerequisites: Some theatre experience is a prerequisite for participation in these workshops. These workshops are designed for teens and adults with at least one year of performance experience or training, whether in an educational, community or professional theatre context.
Cabaret breaks down the 4th wall, connecting artist and audience directly through song or story. In this workshop led by Festival Players Actor/Director Bruce Dow, we’ll examine the kinds of cabaret performance styles available, various structural elements, and the use of theme and story – all to get you on the way to creating your own solo performance!
Work on scenes from Shakespeare’s body of work, led by Festival Players’ Incoming Artistic Director Graham Abbey. Participants will be asked to identify their favourite Shakespearean text and characters at the time of registration and will be assigned scenes and partners to play with during the class.
