Festival Players of Prince Edward County Presents:
A FUNNY PROPOSITION
a cabaret-play… perhaps a caberplay!
by Bruce Dow (and a bunch of other guys)
“Is life a cabaret, or a vaudeville?
For sure, it’s a random series of unexpected acts.
We never know what’s next.
… in middle-age we are truly “By blood a king, in heart a clown”. (Tennyson)
Festival Players is thrilled to welcome back Bruce Dow (who played Bottom in last summer’s Hippolyta’s Wedding: A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and directed the hit show Stones in His Pockets) to perform his new show A Funny Propositionfor three performances July 26-28, 2018 at the Wellington United Church. A master of the cabaret form, Dow’s one-man-musicals are heralded as fearless, intimate, and energetic. Join a poor, lost soul on the highway of life as he comes face to face with those events we can never expect. A Funny Proposition is funny, touching, and full of song.
“Bruce Dow, an actor whose spiritual stature grows by cubits.” – National Post
“The ever-inventive Dow has to be a national treasure.” – Toronto Star
“Shakespearean comedy tends to flourish at Stratford, in part because it is often entrusted to veterans like Mr. Dow.” – New York Times
“… a soaring voice, his comic skills are leavened by a gentle sincerity.” Variety
